I take it it you've checked your leads?

Check the battery, as Adam said. If it's not that, play around with the output, it may have a lose connection. Mess with the pots, it may just be dirt on them, causing intermittence. Same with the switch, if it has one. It's unlikely to be dirt if it's a well-played guitar, but you never know. If there is dirt on the pot/switch, keep moving them until it clears.

If all that fails, you'll need to check the wiring. Could be a lose connection along there or cold solder.
And if you can't find anything obviously wrong, take it to a tech.

I say if she's a noob on wireing, I suggest taking it to a tech just so you don't make things worse.

Definitely. I'd still give it a once over though, check for obvious issues. But yeah, Grungie's right, if your not confident about wiring, don't mess with it.
