I'm a slightly older than young earth creationist, I guess. Like I said, I don't think its 5-6 thousand years. But I do still believe in the literal creation in Genesis. If you're going to pin me down and ask me exactly how old I think the world is I'd say I think probably 10-20 thousand years, but thats just based on the fact that theres about that much human history, and its not a scientific or religious belief for me. Its just a guess based on nothing much.

I'm also a strict Bible believer. In my opinion if you're not taking all of it, you might as well just be making it all up. And you can make it up if you want. I'm not bothered by other peoples beliefs.

Don't read if existential crises aren't your type of thing.

I think you mean this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_demon

I've thought about that before, not really the evil demon part, but all the ridiculous things that go into our ability to be aware of the world makes me stop and wonder if all of it is actually real sometimes.

Did you honestly just pass up an opportunity to Rick Roll? Really?

Confusedhrug: Like I said, it's not really necessary in order to be a good person/Christian. Creation myth isn't really something humankind really "needs", in my opinion. Knowing how we got here just seems like a point of interest in science and philosophy.

I don't want to sound like a critic here, but didn't Luther remove certain books from the Bible during the reformation?

Absolutely. Philosophy and theology are interesting subjects, but they're not exactly safe for my sanity :p

Last Thursdayism and the likes are also interesting points, brought up by skeptics such as Bertrand Russell.

Not that I'm aware of, no. The only times books were taken out of the bible was before the whole thing was really assembled, and the New Testament was mostly just letters that got passed around, and some of them didn't get passed around as often as the others. I'm not really 100% though, because I know there are a couple books in the Catholic Bible that aren't in the others like the King James and stuff. I don't know where those came from, and if you ask Catholics they never even know what you're talking about. I could do some research though.

I have not heard of this.

Either way I agree, if you cherry-pick the Bible for things you like, it's called Cafeteria Christianity. That's my problem with finding religion, because I don't know which one I agree with. There are really good lessons in the Bible, but some of the morality associated with it, I disagree with. Doesn't mean I'm not open-minded about it though, and as a matter of fact, I'm much on the fence about most things.

Not heard of the extra books or the other part?

And I think the major problem with Christianity (this coming from a christian) is that not only are some christians inherently assholes, some people think that having a religion makes them entitled to be an asshole. I don't get that. The creator of the universe sends his son to earth to live as a human, and most importantly DIE as a human ON A CRUCIFIX. He did that in order to save a bunch of people who repeatedly do exactly the opposite of what he wants them to do, just because he loves them. And what people take away from that is that they're supposed to tell everyone how much God hates them? What?! Where did that even come from?!

I think you should love everybody. The world doesn't need more hate, that won't make things better. All the world needs is a little love.
