Disliking Highly Regarded Things

Something alongthe lines of disliking highly regarded things is I am a huge System of a Down fan and everyone tells me to listen to Rage Against the Machine because of that whom I can't stand.

Do you mean everyone who hears you say you like SOAD goes, "Oh, have you listened to RATM?"...? And you can't stand RATM? Is that it?

That is exactly it.

Seems a bit frivolous, but I think we've all been guilty of it at one point or another.

Eh, I've done that too. Nothing wrong with it, as long as you're not a dick about it.

My oldest brother would often make snotty/snooty opinions regarding bands that were obviously good, possibly stemming from homophobia.  For instance, like the lifestyle or not, REM is pretty good, so is Prince.

What does homophobia have to do with REM? Prince is also his own gender, but banged more women than most celebrities do in their entire lifetimes.
