Which Pickup?

I use the neck pickup for Heavy stuff, Groove, Doom etc and the Bridge pickup for Punk stuff.
The middle pickup on my Ibanez was removed.

What kind of pickups do you have? Because this seems totally opposite of what I've always seen done.
