I think I have an interesting idea for tones for my next shoegaze song. I'm "cheating" with some of the tone by recording it at standard tuning, but it's supposed to be tuned flat, so when I'm done recording, I'm dropping the final product to half a step in post-production.
I'm also gonna try what happens when I have it recorded at a slightly faster speed and slow it down in the recording.

hmm, i'd like to see how that turns out.

I'm not sure how the slowing down will sound in a digital recording, but I know altering the pitch will change the sound.

Or play it slow and speed it up. There's a Beatles song (I forget it's name, it's on Rubber Soul though) with a piano solo that's played at half speed (and down an octave) and sped up. Sounds really cool - kinda harpsichord-esque. I imagine that could work well with Shoegaze-y guitars. |
