Metal is a wide genre, stop being elitist d1ck. I'm as much a metalhead as you no matter how much you want to deny it.

But -core genres aren't really grounded in Metal (except for Deathcore, which is probably the most Metal-grounded -core genre, ironically). That said, there's nothing wrong with enjoying -core genres and being a Metalhead.

I h ad a list going last night and wanted to post it, but my computer froze and lost it, so now I'm posting it today. ;-;

However, it's not like we have a large enough forum to warrant having a separate thread for all the Metalcore/Mathcore/Hardcore/Deathcore bands. Besides, short of me and Adam, I don't think most of the regs could be called "Metalheads", in any sense of the term. (And both Adam and I could probably more accurately be called "Progheads", lol.) It's fine if you want to have them both in the same forum, given the size, that's not what I have issue with. I take issue with the fact that all the actual Metal releases you put up here are either bad for people looking to get into the genre or just not enough of them. I think I spotted, like, 3 legit Metal albums that most Metal fans would recommend. So, I'm going to give you a list to start your journey into the depths. Death Metal: Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness Possessed - Seven Churches Obituary - The Cause Of Death Incantation - Onward To Golgotha Bolt Thrower - In Battle There Is No Law Death - Scream Bloody Gore Deicide - Legion Purtenance - Member Of Immortal Damnation Thrash Metal: Slayer - Reign In Blood Metallica - Kill 'Em All Kreator - Pleasure In Pain Destruction - Infernal Overkill Coroner - R.I.P. Artillery - By Inheritance Sodom - Persecution Mania Testament - The New Order Black Metal: Darkthrone - A Blaze Under The Northern Sky Immortal - Pure Holocaust Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas/Deathcrush Sacramentum - Far Away From The Sun Gorgoroth - Under The Sign Of Hell Bathory - Under The Sign Of The Black Mark Venom - Black Metal Blasphemy - Blood On The Altar Mercyful Fate - Melissa And here's a Metalcore list because, well, you don't have hardly any Metalcore. Botch - We Are The Romans Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops Earth Crisis - Destroy The Machine Deadguy - Fixation On A Co-Worker Overcast - Expectational Dilution Poison The Well - Distance Makes The Heart Grow Shai Hulud - Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion Converge - Petitioning The Empty Sky Integrity - Humanity Is The Devil Starkweather - Crossbearer Coalesce - Give Them Rope Even if you don't incorporate any of these bands into your list, I think you guys should at least give them a shot, given that they pioneered and influenced a lot of the music you currently listen to. I'm genuinely surprised that the regs here got a little bit pissy when you said that the albums they ( >_> ) suggested weren't very good. An opinion is an opinion is an opinion
I don't know if you can say the regs(plural) when only Debbie got mad at me.
Opinions are all fine and dandy to have, but when you're making lists of music for people to get into it's kind of important that it's an accurate representation of the music. It's like telling someone to get into Metalcore with Jane Doe or Death Metal with The Red In The Sky Is Ours, both phenomenal albums, but would turn the more casual listeners away due to their complexity and own take on the style.

I think the thread's mostly turned into people just recommending their favorite albums instead of just "entry level" albums.

I'm starting to notice that. This forum also seems more like a club for members of another forum. :/
