Why did you decide to pick up the bass?

Since I grew up in the nu-metal era, I've been exposed to a lot of dropped down bass. I think it was then when I fell in love with it. I have always listened out for the bassline in a song. My parents never wanted to support my music dreams because they thought I was going through a phase so I saved up and bought myself some gear and got lessons when I was 22.

I've never played any other instruments prior to my bass which still boggles a few people's mind this side of the world.

When and how did you fall in love with the deep end?

I most often play bass in studio recordings, but it is fun to play on the side as well.

But you are more of a guitar guy?

Yeah, but I still enjoy playing bass, piano and drums :p

I can say the same regarding classical guitar.

I have yet to actually buy a bass, but I want to because sometimes Flea's bass parts are just so damn sexy. And I enjoy playing my friends bass whenever we jam, partly because the expectations of what you need to do to add to the song are so much different than on guitar, and I kinda feel more free to just improvise and try different stuff on the bass.

I picked it up because I played trombone so I'm used to a bass instrument. Then I got more interested in guitar.
