(I wouldn't have more than 16GB of storage with a smartphone though, I'm sure.) Of course, in all honesty, if my iPod is fucked, I'll probably just buy a used one off of eBay. There's some fairly reasonably priced ones for less than $150.(09-10-2013, 07:40 PM)crazysam23 Wrote: I've been tempted to just throw the damn thing. I'm looking into alternatives to an iPod though, just in case mine is basically a fucking paperweight. Apparently, alternatives will cost a lot in the US, unless I decide to get a smartphone (which I probably won't be getting for a year or so). I may be better off getting a new iPod classic. (Mine's 160GB.)
You are not getting a smartphone with 160GB memory. It's kind of a shame that the cost of getting an iPod repaired costs as much as getting a brand new one.
New iPods are an absolute fucking ripoff. I'm not paying $230, when I may end removing the Apple firmware anyway. (You're paying for the iPod and the firmware, plus warranty support when you get an iPod new.) I really like the benefits of rockbox firmware a lot better, even if it's only "beta" phase for iPod classics.
