Bouzki /Mandocello - Fullmoon - 09-20-2015 I just bought a Bouzki (Long necked Mandolin) off my friend for £90 absolute steal!! They are normally £250 - £350 ! Love the sound of them, sharper sound than a guitar. Just got to learn new chords again. Quite difficult on a small neck. But find it so much easier to learn than the banjo with my shakes. RE: Bouzki /Mandocello - Grungie - 09-20-2015 Nice, I only know about them through System of a Down, because Daron was emulating the sound on guitar. RE: Bouzki /Mandocello - Skyward - 04-15-2016 Ooh, that's what a musician named Damh the Bard uses. They're interesting, used in a lot of Greek and Irish music if I recall correctly. I'd like to get one someday. They have a bulbous back like an oud right? RE: Bouzki /Mandocello - JCizzle - 04-16-2016 Yep, and they have doubled strings like a 12-string guitar (i.e. in octaves). Some of the back are like that, I think that is more in the greek ones. Mine is flat. I will post some pics of it later. It is currently at my mothers house.  I have been learning with the guy I bought it off for about 2 months now. He is really happy with my progression. I LOVE this instrument, almost as much as the Banjo (except I can play this haha) And yea, 8 strings in total but together in 2 so look like 4 strings from a distance. |
