RE: Welcome a new staff member - Frankie - 03-02-2014 Congrats. You= <<< Me= < RE: Welcome a new staff member - peternorthstars - 03-04-2014 welcome. why do we fight? RE: Welcome a new staff member - crazysam23 - 03-04-2014 Because fighting is fun. Duh. RE: Welcome a new staff member - peternorthstars - 03-06-2014 but how can fights be real if our fists are not? RE: Welcome a new staff member - debbie - 03-07-2014 Because then you're not real therefore unreal fists can hurt you. RE: Welcome a new staff member - crazysam23 - 03-07-2014 ^ It's like the concept of "imaginary numbers". How can we use them, if they really don't exist? Because "FUCK YOU, THAT'S HOW!" RE: Welcome a new staff member - Danjo - 03-08-2014 Because real numbers don't exist anyway. RE: Welcome a new staff member - crazysam23 - 03-08-2014 Well, all numbers are simply constructs we have used to give the concept of value and multiplicity to basic objects. RE: Welcome a new staff member - JCizzle - 03-08-2014 Numbers, and all other concepts, are necessary beings, i.e. if nothing material existed, they'd still exist as potentialities. This means that if God is real (and therefore non-contingent), He is no more or no less necessary than numbers, which is weird. RE: Welcome a new staff member - Danjo - 03-08-2014 I'm not sure I understand what you mean Joel. The funny thing is that most real numbers can't possibly represent anything physical. Anything physical must be represented by a rational number (rational numbers are the set of any number a/b such that a and b are integers). Irrational numbers could only exist in an ideal world. |
