I think it bombed pretty hard too

According to wikipedia, the budget for the film was $250 million, and it made a grand total of $284,139,100 at the box office. So, I mean, not terrible. But not great either.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carter_of_Mars_(film) It's quite unfortunate, because the books were actually quite good.

I read 153 more pages of The Hero of Ages today putting me on page 450. I really am liking what they are doing with Spook's character. I also like how they are talking more about hemalurgy, I was curious about that in the second book.
And for a couple of pages I was confused because for some reason I forgot that Breeze, Sazed, Allrainne and Spook were in Urteau and I kept thinking they were in Fadrex for some reason.

Well, I did warn you about Spook. I mean, he does show character growth, but...well, you'll see. Just keep in mind, he's a support character. hrug:

Well, I know he is still a support chracter, just what he is becoming/became in Urteau. It also helps that Sazed is willing to give him some responsibility.

What do you mean by "what he is becoming"?

Spoilers for people who haven't read the book:

Kelsier as "Ruin"...hmm...interesting theory.
But, to be fair, all of Kelsier's crew become religious figures. Vin is practically revered as a goddess by certain people, which she finds unsettling. The Church of the Survivor is new and needs "saints" to feed its mythos. For some people, it's replacing their previous devotion to the (now dead) Lord Ruler.
