Well A7X is mostly rejected because of their popularity, not necessarily with their sound not being "tr00 rock"

They're not 'rock' in the purest sense; they're not technically 'metal', etc, etc.I used to listen to A7X when I was in high school and never would I have described them as rock. Then again genres are often dumb. I always considered A7X modern metal, which is miles away from hard rock as I know it (from The Rolling Stones to Motley Crue). In all srsness my intention wasn't to sound elitist as I myself am a critic of such elitism. It was more of a semantic thing than anything else.

actually i agree with a lot of this list
if you want more from 2013 check Exai (which is a little to long but whatevs), The Terror which i haven't heard but i've heard good things about it, R Plus Seven is great, Old was pretty good, definitely check out Run The Jewels, Slow focus was really good for the full length songs. etc, etc. wwf Wrote:i just took a shit and it was the most awkward thing ever.

i actually kinda liked guilt trip from yeezus. only song i truly hated on that album was on sight, which was just annoying to me, daft punk beat or not.
i still think it's kind of overrated but it's got some really great moments.

the worst track was definitely bound 2

i really like bound 2 but the chorus was awkward. and send it up had some pretty bad parts too.

'On Sight' is so bad it's glorious. I laughed the first time I heard it. 'Bound 2' is one of the better songs on that album. 'Guilt Trip' isn't bad conceptually but the execution sounds so half-hearted and just thrown together. I hated 'Send it Up' at first too because of the annoying synth but now I'm just indifferent to it. It kind of has a vibe at least.
On a side note, I'm sure we've all thought this: Is Kanye concious of how many times per album he talks about his Benz? Thanks enforced; I'll check those out.

My favorites I can think of are
Chelsea Wolfe - Pain is Beauty YC The Cynic - GNK Palms - Palms Sunbather Portugal. The Man - Evil Friends Milo - Things That Happen At Day/Night BANKS - London (ep) CHVRCHES - Mother We Share Baths - Obsidian Death Grips - Government Plates Old Gray - An Autobiography Still love Blake's shit. Everything That I Was Afraid of Happening, Happened and Separate Graves are really great. Not sure about Anthony Green's new solo album yet. I gotta warm up to it but it might be great. |
