I'm probably naive to think this, but I feel that making light of some of this stuff breaks barriers down. The whole "hey you can't say that!!!" makes it continue and people will do it on purpose, but if nobody is taking the subject seriously, eventually people will stop caring about it.
Social media and self blogs have become such a bullshit form of empowerment for everyone who feels opinionated about something.
"Share if you care! Skip over if you don't!" "Reblog if you love _____" and all that other stupid bullshit.
Get off your fucking asses and actually do something about it. You shouldn't be fucking comfortable with such a false feeling of accomplishment. 'Oh, I liked this post on Facebook, there's my good deed for the day! The kids in Darfur definitely know I'm pulling for them!' or whatever.
People these days are so content to sit on their computers acting like the world's biggest proponent of equality or the fight against injustice or harmful regimes or terrorist groups, but in reality they're just some dumb cunt who can't be arsed to actually get involved in something so they pride themselves in outpourings of feelings and typical regurgitated media bullshit to their followers, give themselves a nice pat on the back for being a part of the movement, and then go about their day as if they're god's gift to everyone.
