It's true; I use piano to visualize certain things at school. The only place I'll visualize a fretboard more than a keyboard is in solfege, usually when it comes to identifying and transcribing chords.

I feel like thats more a product of everyone deciding they're the best than the other way around, but who knows. I guess piano's are good for working out multiple parts at the same time, seeing how the chords will fit together.

I'm pretty, if not a 100%, sure that music-theory predates pianos. Verify, someone.

Well yeah, it obviously does. I mean maybe it does work better. But they do also make you learn piano to get a music degree, and everyone teaches it in terms of piano. In my experience though.

Yes, in the same way that the lute preceded the guitar. Point being, theory was around back before the piano. But it's only within the 200 years that music theory has become the beast we know and love (or hate, depending on who you talk to, lol) today.

I like to play keyboard and piano but I didn't mention it in my intro. Anyway, though, I'm sort of weak on it right now. Haven't played in a while. But I think I could master it if I put in the hours.
