RE: Community Thread - Grungie - 01-28-2016 So yesterday we had a special guest on base, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, who is THE enlisted guy in the entire fucking Air Force, and we had an envent which was basically a glorified Q&A session. Half the fucking base showed up. Some people had interesting questions like "since they're planning on letting transgendered people join, how would grooming standards and PT scoring work? Would we go with their birth sex, or their sex they identify as". (He didn't give us an answer because it hasn't been decided yet). Well this one dumbass asked a question off Duffelblog (aka the military version of the Onion) "so I heard that the Air Force spent $10 million on lottery tickets to fun a plane, is that true?. Never had I heard a few thousand face palms happen at once. The chief said "where the hell did you hear that from, because I can tell you it's complete horseshit" RE: Community Thread - JCizzle - 01-30-2016 The frig? :haha: RE: Community Thread - crazysam23 - 01-31-2016 :haha: Someone was trolling and failing. RE: Community Thread - Grungie - 01-31-2016 I don't think it was trolling, more than likely it was "man this would be funny as hell to ask this" and it ended up in embarrassment. RE: Community Thread - crazysam23 - 02-01-2016 That's even worse. :haha: RE: Community Thread - Grungie - 02-01-2016 I'm sure he got his ass chewed out when he went back to work. RE: Community Thread - crazysam23 - 02-01-2016 (02-01-2016, 06:35 PM)Grungie Wrote: I'm sure he got his ass chewed out when he went back to work.Yeah, probably. I'm curious though. Are dipshit moments more common, you think? For instance, in the private sector, if you do too many dipshit things, they eventually fire you. In the military, you signed up for a few years. Unless you get court martialed, they typically can't just kick you to the curb. Or is this kind of thing just uncommon? RE: Community Thread - Grungie - 02-01-2016 No, there's tons of ways to get kicked out if you do too many stupid things, or something really really stupid. It doesn't have to be illegal. Basically if you do something that's enough to get paperwork, and you build up enough paperwork in a relative amount of time would get you a ticket out. Also you can get kicked out for sitting at the same rank for too long or can't achieve a specific rank by a certain time (obviously the higher you get, the more time you have), or they'll try to run you out if you sit at a rank too long. RE: Community Thread - crazysam23 - 02-02-2016 (02-01-2016, 09:44 PM)Grungie Wrote: No, there's tons of ways to get kicked out if you do too many stupid things, or something really really stupid. Quote:Also you can get kicked out for sitting at the same rank for too long or can't achieve a specific rank by a certain time (obviously the higher you get, the more time you have), or they'll try to run you out if you sit at a rank too long.I mean, that kind of makes sense. RE: Community Thread - Grungie - 02-03-2016 Idk, my dad has stories, but they're definitely more common now than back then. It's because of the economy and how downsized the military is compared to 10 years ago(and heavily restricted budget), thy don't have the patience. Now it's ridiculously easy to get kicked out, because some of the shit you could have gotten away with in the 80's will get you a one way ticket out. Though it's also ridiculously easy to not get kicked out either. |
