And Debbie Gets Naked - stratman_13 - 08-30-2013 I love you too Adam. RE: Community Thread 2: Adam's Back! To be clear I act completely normal when I do that (the point is that anybody could be gay and stereotypes are dumb). If someone calls me a faggot or something I just roll with it to make them understand that words can hurt and it has worked on numerous occasions. I feel like if I said things from a straight perspective they wouldn't care. Also I only do it to random strangers in public or whatever, not people that would talk to me later. And I never explicitly say I'm gay (because that would feel weird since I'm not) I just let them make assumptions and nether confirm nor deny it. /trying to feel justified >_> RE: Community Thread 2: Adam's Back! Would it make you feel better about yourself knowing that i made out with a guy because there were a bunch of hasidic jews protesting against gay rights right next to us? And that they didn't notice us at first so we did it for 3 minutes until they finally saw us and started yelling? And that that guy is a close friend of mine and i can't look him in the eye everytime i see him now? Feel better bout yourself? RE: Community Thread 2: Adam's Back! And Debbie Gets Naked - stratman_13 - 08-30-2013 It's just laughable to me. Social media and self blogs have become such a bullshit form of empowerment for everyone who feels opinionated about something. "Share if you care! Skip over if you don't!" "Reblog if you love _____" and all that other stupid bullshit. Get off your fucking asses and actually do something about it. You shouldn't be fucking comfortable with such a false feeling of accomplishment. 'Oh, I liked this post on Facebook, there's my good deed for the day! The kids in Darfur definitely know I'm pulling for them!' or whatever. People these days are so content to sit on their computers acting like the world's biggest proponent of equality or the fight against injustice or harmful regimes or terrorist groups, but in reality they're just some dumb cunt who can't be arsed to actually get involved in something so they pride themselves in outpourings of feelings and typical regurgitated media bullshit to their followers, give themselves a nice pat on the back for being a part of the movement, and then go about their day as if they're god's gift to everyone. Yes. I sense a touch of resentment in that post; sorry if I offended you. I would probably do something similar (you can neer say that until you're really in the situation of course) but that sucks that it's weird between you two now. Immaturity time: I have never done anything that daring and now I feel like I haven't really made a difference. I have been meaning to really get involved in this stuff but I don't know how where I am. When I do though... 8) I've been feeling rather cocky lately and I've been experiencing that youthful idealism that makes us think we're actually going to do something that matters. RE: Community Thread 2: Adam's Back! And Debbie Gets Naked - Adam - 08-30-2013 I actually wasn't mocking you about your post :haha: And it's not actually that weird between us, it became one of those tails we swore not to tell anyone but everyone knows... RE: Community Thread 2: Adam's Back! And Debbie Gets Naked - stratman_13 - 08-30-2013 Shit, honestly, I'd be proud to tell that story. It has, and it continues to, hinder moving past it. Political correctness has its time and place, but honestly, in my opinion, it reinforces barriers more than it breaks them down. Because basically you're still recognizing it as something offensive, wrong, etc. The more you build it up to be a monster, well.. eventually it'll become one. The sooner that we learn to actually not take everything so seriously, the sooner we can move past a lot of the issues that plague things like sexism and racism. Laugh it off, people. Just because it meant something to an ignorant group of people years ago doesn't mean that you actually have to continue to hold yourself to keeping it that meaning. I'm not going to lie though, I had that thought out a lot better in my head, but I find it really difficult to transfer my thoughts from my head to words, so that point probably didn't come across effectively at all.
