Almost all of my CS major friends own dual boot macs.

Really? I just hear people like Sam complain about them. Everyone else seems satisfied.
Notice how I never complain about the OS itself, just how Apple forces you to buy their hardware and also gives you a bunch of programs that you don't need, thereby driving the price up several hundred dollars.

Nah, almost the opposite. They can probably afford it just because our tuition is only $2,500 a semester in state. And anyone who went to a New Mexico high school gets free tuition as long as their grades aren't complete shit and they go to school full time.

That makes sense. Even so, I'm willing to bet most of those Comp Sci people are going to end up working on Windows machines, writing either in Java or C# (although, the specific language may change in 5 years). Java and .Net is where it's at; those technologies are the moneymakers.

One of my friends really hates Java, haha. Like with a burning passion. He's good at plenty of other languages though, and I've heard he's a really good programmer because people keep throwing jobs at him that he never even applied for.

Yeah, well like I said, they're mostly dual boot. Although I'm not sure if thats Mac and Windows or Mac and Linux.

Carl, my school is consistently ranked one of the best values of education in the country, because its dirt cheap but also well respected. Also they're cool and let you keep whatever scholarships you can get, unlike other schools which make you pick only one. So its pretty common at my school to go in and have the cashier give you a check when you validate at the beginning of the semester, instead of having to write them a check.

Offhand, do you know what other languages? Because Java and C# basically do the same things in slightly different ways. Pretty cool he has lots of job offers though.

Probably the latter. Windows doesn't like to dual boot with Mac. (You can force it to dual boot with Linux; it's just a giant pain to dual boot Windows and OS X.) Plus, Linux is free, and Windows is expensive.

My laptop comes in tomorrow, but if it comes in late, I might have to wait til Thursday to get it.

I can get back in action after my duty day/class is over.

I'm in class for about 7 hours straight during the weekday.

RE: 2 pɐǝɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɔ - JCizzle - 12-03-2014

I often realize how much of a smooth talker I could be if I gave a shit. Lol.

I find myself constantly coming up with awesome ways to compliment people, specifically female colleagues, but IRL people know I'm absolutely not interested in anything having to do with romance and what not. Yet I'm too paranoid to compliment people on things such as looks for fear that they'd take it as genuine flirting, which is one of the last things I'd want them to think. My relationships with other people need to remain entirely platonic.

The compliments one should especially take to heart, IMO, are those reflecting successes or efforts. I have no problem telling my colleagues they did a good job performing for exams and what not.

All this is considering the fact that it's way too easy to bullshit someone through flattery, which is why, for instance, people shouldn't tell others they love them -- they should show it. I remember Mac having this particular philosophy.

/pointless rambling

My brother's program at school made them both get Macbooks. They do film and video though, so that's really all that's used in that field for the most part.
