RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- wwf - 08-14-2014 I bought my dad's camri, that's all I have to add to this lol Anyway, check out this pitchfork review I found: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/19585-the-gaslight-anthem-get-hurt/ It's totally brutal :haha: RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- Grungie - 08-14-2014 Lololol oh Pitchfork reviews. RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- carlcockatoo - 08-14-2014 (08-14-2014, 01:30 PM)Grungie Wrote: Why? Partially because I hate driving but mostly because goddamn those expenses. I used to live in a more densely populated area where everything I needed could be accessed via public transportation or walking. If there was public transportation in my area (well there is but only from 8am to 1pm wtf) I would use it. And my aunt lives in a suburban area, has a car, but chooses to take the bus to work so I know it's not impractical. Only downside is that everyone will assume I'm poor and/or a criminal and I will never get laid but like igaf. Also I'm going to need my parents to pay for my textbooks and I truly feel like a spoilt piece of shit and I am okay with people hating me if they choose to. It's not a jealousy thing. I dislike most 'rich people' (at least the type I'm surrounded by, and it's more the attitude than the people) because of the unapologetic classicism, not because I want their mansion. Edit: On a second thought this is needlessly harsh and looks stupid unless I expand on it. If I for some reason feel the need for a rant I will direct it to another thread. >_> RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- Grungie - 08-14-2014 It seems like you read too much into things, and I find it odd that you're painting yourself as a villain because you're not struggling. And I don't think it's really respectful to your parents when you call yourself a piece of shit because your parents are helping you out. I never liked when I see people not appreciate it when they get help. RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- carlcockatoo - 08-14-2014 (08-14-2014, 02:57 PM)Grungie Wrote: It seems like you read too much into things, and I find it odd that you're painting yourself as a villain because you're not struggling. And I don't think it's really respectful to your parents when you call yourself a piece of shit because your parents are helping you out. I never liked when I see people not appreciate it when they get help. I do appreciate it (well there's another side to it that I don't appreciate which is that they are using my financial dependence to control what I do). It's more like 'I appreciate it but this isn't right' not 'fuck you for giving me money!'. I don't know if I want to go into it but this ties into some stuff where I feel like I'm eventually going to have to make a decision where I either maintain ties with my parents and live the way they want me to or cut ties and live the way I feel I should and that's not a decision I'm wanting to make. Also I don't think I'm a villain for not struggling. Nobody should have to struggle. I would just say that I'm self-aware of my role in society and right now that's almost an entirely negative role. I would also like to clarify that I don't hate my parents or anything like that. They are good to me and I appreciate that, but they are bad towards anyone else who isn't in the family, and it really makes me question my self-worth a lot. RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- Grungie - 08-14-2014 (08-14-2014, 03:10 PM)carlcockatoo Wrote: I do appreciate it (well there's another side to it that I don't appreciate which is that they are using my financial dependence to control what I do). Unless you're not explaining it right, I don't see how it's wrong for your parents to buy your books, and maybe my reading comprehension skills are bad since I recently woke up, but in this conversation, I'm not seeing how your parents are controlling you, unless that's another conversation itself (08-14-2014, 03:10 PM)carlcockatoo Wrote: I don't know if I want to go into it but this ties into some stuff where I feel like I'm eventually going to have to make a decision where I either maintain ties with my parents and live the way they want me to or cut ties and live the way I feel I should and that's not a decision I'm wanting to make. With the way you tend to explain things, you look like you're ashamed that you're well off, and you're always giving yourself negativity over it, because you live in what I'm perceiving as a fairly comfortable life financially. It does kind of look like you're making it a tragedy (well maybe too harsh of a word, but too lazy to thesaurus) that your parents are helping you out. It's kind of some serious first world problems when you're complaining and are ashamed that your parents are paying for your college and your books. That might not be what you're intentionally portraying, but it's possible that with the way parts of the internet are, you're "brainwashed" into thinking that you should be ashamed for living comfortably and well off. RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- WCPhils - 08-14-2014 (08-14-2014, 04:11 AM)Grungie Wrote: Idk, I've never hated someone based on their social class, I tend to hate people based on actions and personality. Cuz I was never in a specific clique in high school and I was the one who could freely float around between most of them, and I always saw people hating on the rich kids, but a good bit of them that were getting bitched about were pretty cool people. bingo I decide if I dislike someone by their actions. Not because of where they been born or what situation they were born into. I find it just as dumb to dislike someone for being born a different race than to dislike someone because they're born into money or into a military family, or anything else the internet has decided to hate. (I've lost count). It says nothing about them. We don't know anything about their character or what kind of person they are. I just feel like you're judging a person and deciding to dislike them when you know almost nothing about them. I really really can't stand the internet's hatred of the police. (lol, though honestly with what's going on in Ferguson there are a lot of shitheads) It just bothers me that so many people have this hatred of people that by and large are likely good people. The shitheads stand out because we don't have stories of officers being good people and doing their jobs. Just when one asshole does something wrong. One of my best friends just became a cop so that's why it bothers me. He is genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met. Just a great guy. And it saddens me that so many people will just look at him as some big meathead (He's 6'4" and built like a linebacker) who is going to abuse his power first chance. (I also just realized I said "you" and "your" a lot in this post. I was not talking about you, haha) Also, on the car subject if you don't like driving that's cool, but I don't really get the negativity. Maybe it's just because I love driving and really dislike the city though, lol. Like I just see them as cars. I like being able to go where I want when I want. I also just like going for a drive (woohoo gas prices) down some winding country road on a lazy sunday afternoon. I love the freedom. And I jsut love cars as feats of engineering. Guess because my dad is mechanic so that has always been part of my life. I'm just saying that I'm not behaving the way I should. There is no tragedy, I'm simply reflecting on my own hypocrisy. I kind of have a weird opinion (note: It's not 'all cops are pigs' but overall it's not positive either) towards the police but I'm sure your friend is fine. Also I see two of you are replying so in advanced I want to apologise because every time I make dumb comments like this it turns into this big thing which is not my intent. It's mundane hearing about a cop doing his job correctly, and you'll only hear a cop being celebrated when they die in the line of duty, like my friend who died a few months back... Same thing with anti-gun people, nobody wants to talk about people who use their guns correctly, or it's part of their job. Also since you mentioned the military, I'm still apprehensive about even mentioning that on most websites because of the negativity towards it, because of how most people are really ill-informed of it. Though unless you grew up in a military family, most people in general are pretty ill informed of it. Hell my sister's in the Navy and she works with people who believe in the Illuminati and one guy listens to alternative radio stations, and thinks that Obama is part of the lizard people or some shit like that. RE: 2 pÉÂÇÂɹɥʇ ʎʇıunɯɯoɆ- carlcockatoo - 08-14-2014 The conclusion (for lack of a better word since my views are everchanging) is that there is almost 'police culture' (lol) in many departments where not every cop is a terrible person, but a lot of them are committing acts of police brutality, and most aren't doing much to stand up to it (of course they care about their families and their job and all that). Many of course are not bad and in some cases have died actually doing their jobs. :/ I met a local cop who did a presentation at my school and when asked about brutality he basically denied it and made excuses, but in the same answer bragged about it. I despise militarism though I have no qualms with individual soldiers (except maybe the type who get office jobs in their city and act really entitled, but again I'm against the attitude not the person). The most anti-war people I have ever met are war veterans. |
