My condolences, man. Like you said, no matter the personality, it's always sad to see someone go.

Well, I'm sorry, man. That sucks.

This is gonna sound weird, but the family is actually relieved that she's dead, especially my grandpa. So I'll explain a way to make it not sound entirely unsympathetic.

She went in the emergency room for a different reason, but she ended up having a stroke that killed 60% of her brain, and she couldn't talk or eat on her own, and could only move her left arm. The doctor said there was pretty much no chance she was ever going to get better with that. Also coupled with the fact she couldn't really see or hear that well, she was pretty much more than half-dead.

They were planning on sending her to a hospice today, but then her health dipped a bit, so she wasn't going to make the trip. Though even when she recovers in the hospice, they were going to place her in a nursing home, as her being home is unrealistic. Without going into much detail, her first being in a hospice, then a nursing home was going to be a huge hindrance on the family, and is going to put even more strain on my grandpa, so her going to a nursing home and shit was going to end up killing him as well.

We all wanted to see her get better, but with her condition, it wasn't going to change much. So it was really just delaying the inevitable. So with several factors weighing in, it does take a huge weight off the family, especially with my grandpa feeling resolved. All I can say, is that she at least died in her sleep.

Doesn't sound weird at all, bud. Or unsympathetic. Sometimes it's just a lot of relief when someone passes on, simply because of what their life had become and the toll it was taking on both them and their loved ones. Especially if their life had, essentially, been taken from them. That's how my great grandmother was; cancer had reduced her to almost nothing. It was sad, but a big relief when she finally moved on.

edit: your av is adorable. what show is that from, not to sound insensitive?

Nah it's cool, I'm not overly fond of pity parties anyway. Though I wasn't saying the situation was weird, it was more that I had to actually explain it than just say "the whole family is relieved to see her dead".

My avatar is from Joshiraku, I only saw the first episode, and I saw the scene it was in and thought "$10 someone made a gif of this", sure enough I was right and knew it was avatar material.

nah, that makes sense man. Sometimes it's just better to see them no longer suffering and it can be a relief.

Yeah, that would have just been awkward.
