Terrible example, but it's kind of like how you can say you hate Obama and someone will tell you "you don't like him because he's black right?"

Because obviously the only way to hate him is based on his race

I could be bigoted, but personally I think people who are big on schooling others on racism and sexism are probably closet racists and sexists themselves and are trying to compensate for it. Cuz if you're either worrying about whether or not what you or someone is doing is offensive to a specific group of people or sniffing out what people say or situations that are the slightest bit racist or sexist just to school them; you kind of have to be in a racist/sexist mindset to notice some of the shit those people think up.
I don't really think that's how many of them are. They're obviously people like due or lolmnt or blake. The thing about Hardcore is that it tends to be very political, just like regular punk. I'm not too big on bands that are into feminism (mainly because there's too many feminists who are men-haters) or things like that. But a lot of people like due & co seem to think it's their job to educate others on what's proper. Most of the Hardcore scene isn't that bad, from what I understand.

I think those 3 are closet racists/sexists from their actions, since I've seen some fairly racist things coming from them when they're trying to defend minorities. Especially when Due's supposed to be big on women's rights, but defends the fact that it's okay for black people to rap about women being objects, or certain Muslim societies to mistreat women because it's part of their culture and we can't impose Eurocentric ideals on them. To me, that looks fairly racist if you're playing favorites to certain ethnic groups over something that's generally considered sexist/racist.

Then there's the times they've turned innocent conversations into a sexism/racism debate because they somehow sniffed out a situation on how you're a racist. I'm okay with them schooling people on how saying fag or calling negative stuff is gay, because someone blatantly said it, but calling out that shaking hands is gender role policing is pretty damn sexist to me.

So they're either closet racists/sexists, or they're practicing McCarthyism where they're going on witch hunts to snuff out racists instead of Communists.

I never really paid attention to them, but lol ^

I agree with all of that. I also think "White Guilt" or whatever is pretty damn racist too. And the whole "Check your privilege" thing promotes classism in a bad way.

RE: Community Thread 2: Debbie's Reverse Harem. - Grungie - 08-16-2013

I don't really think the "check your privilege" is really an effective way to create awareness of the situation. It's similar to how "you wouldn't download a car" isn't an effective way to stop piracy.

RE: Community Thread 2: Debbie's Reverse Harem. - BobSacamano - 08-16-2013

I consider myself a feminist, and I don't really hate them for doing it 'cuz I can't really know their true intentions. It's just that no one in the pit is really the problem when it comes to those things. Only Stratkat have I seen something seriously racist (apart from blake actually saying he thought he was racist against Asians) and the closest thing to a serious sexist comment was corey yelling about how the patriarchy doesn't exist, which I think comes more from ignorance than misogyny

RE: Community Thread 2: Debbie's Reverse Harem. - Grungie - 08-16-2013

For me it's not the topic itself, it's how they're presenting the topic that's really counterproductive and the hypocrisy around it. Like that check your privilege thread where Sniplefritz called Element out on how this looks like they're doing it for ego boosts, and then Will and someone else was asking Element if he actually participates in any sort of activism besides bitching at people in the Pit and he mentioned how he thinks activism isn't going to help and bitched out of the thread. Blake's also said some pretty racist comments towards Asians (like in that Miyazaki thread how Philipino names are like Ching Chang Torrez).

Also the dogpiling itself is insulting. It feels like they're all looking for these moments and all jump in together to school the offenders.

Stratkat's kind of a strange person, he only bugs me because he loves talking about how much he loves drugs and how he's a crossdresser all the time.

I love how you guys are often complaining about UGers :haha: but all in all, I agree.

RE: Community Thread 2: Debbie's Reverse Harem. - WCPhils - 08-16-2013

I'm not really complaining about UGers, just those kind of people in genereal. It's easy to use them as examples though since we're all familiar with them
