RE: Anime/Manga Thread - Grungie - 02-06-2014 (02-06-2014, 05:13 PM)NecroWolf Wrote: I watched all the Coppelion episodes. Not bad, a bit different than what I am used to. You notice the twins were named Riku and Sora? Was that from Kingdom Hearts or are those common names in Japan? It's possible that it's a KH reference, but I do know Sora is a normal name in Japan. Riku I'm not too sure about. RE: Anime/Manga Thread - Fantasyfanman - 02-09-2014 Grungie, it seems that if you recommend it or like a show it is a rule that it must be awesome. So far I do not think I have watched one show that you like or have recommended to me hat I did not like XD. So far I do not think I have watched one show that you like or have recommended to me hat I did not like XD. Well isn't that the point of recommending a show? You wouldn't recommend a show you thought was bad or just meh. RE: Anime/Manga Thread - Fantasyfanman - 02-09-2014 Good point but what I am getting at is that our taste in anime must be similar. Some peoples recommendation in my opinion suck because our tastes are different. You and me seem to like similar shows. RE: Anime/Manga Thread - Grungie - 02-09-2014 That's also a possibility. I know some people who are into those really "deep" or artsy shows, and they hate some of the stuff I watch. RE: Anime/Manga Thread - there - 02-15-2014 My favourite anime: One Piece, Gintama, Space Brothers, You and Me/Kimi to Boku 1+2, Initial D, Haibane Renmei, Welcome to the NHK! and Honey and Clover. Favourite manga: Dorohedoro then Liar Game, I am a Hero and RRR (Rock N Roll Rikitaro) and Memories of Emanon/its sequels. All Rounder Meguru seemed good but don't know which chapter I was on. Any takers? I wasn't exactly into SAO. Btooom! is better I'd say. RE: Anime/Manga Thread - Grungie - 02-15-2014 I find it interesting how polarizing SAO is. It's either amazing or boring as shit. RE: Anime/Manga Thread - there - 02-15-2014 I thought it was kind of exciting but there was no depth. Action was basically "I swing my sword, screen flashes and you die" and relationships were "I just met you and this is crazy but....". Only thing I found boring not due to a lack of depth by the creators is that he doesn't have to train or anything. He just downloads skills basically. That people keep calling Kirito a badass and him being called The Black Swordsman (which is of course the nickname of Gatsu from Berserk who I'd say is genuinely a badass since he's brave and trains hard) when he's just downloading skills annoyed me. Did SAO get pre-release hyped much? I don't get how that works. Like Kill La Kill got hyped up before it came out and it was known it would be a really popular seasonal anime (on MAL there was a game I didn't play for which you choose which multiple anime you think will get the most viewers and the person who chooses the anime which get the most MAL viewers wins. Kill La Kill along with a few other completely new anime, sequels of really popular seasonal anime and some popular long-running anime was banned because it was guaranteed to be popular). How could anyone know that? RE: Anime/Manga Thread - Grungie - 02-15-2014 I agree with the lack of depth, though I do recall they did say Kirito actually did a lot of grinding, just off screen. But I also hated how they had all these episodes where he meets all these people and helps them, but you pretty much never saw those people again. It was almost like how Pokemon is. Though it does seem a bit hypocritical for me to talk about shows lacking depth, as I'm a big fan of pointless slice of life shows, but when it comes to an action series, I do want more out of it. I think there was a big pre-air hype, as I do have to admit the main concept of the show does sound pretty exciting, and the first two episodes were really good. The same author as SAO has a show called Accel World which is similar, but IMO is much better.
